  Treatment Modalities

Electrical Muscle Stimulation: We use interferential, TENS and Russian currents to decrease pain and inflammation, increase circulation and to re-educate and strengthen impaired muscles.

Microcurrent: A specialized form of electrical stimulation that is used to enhance the bodies own ability to heal itself. Microcurrent works especially well with bone fractures.

Ultrasound: Therapeutic ultrasound is utilized to reduce trigger points, loosen soft tissue, increase circulation and enhance the healing process. Rather than taking an image as used is diagnostic ultrasound, an ultrasonic wave passes through the damages tissues to stimulate healing.

Myofascial Release/Therapeutic Massage: Deep tissue or manual therapy which is utilized for the reduction of adhesions, muscle spasms and trigger points. This form of deep-tissue massage is used for therapeutic purposes only and is not meant for relaxation.

Trigger Point Therapy: Ischemic pressure is applied directly to the muscle spasm or “knot” in order to force the blood supply out of the immediate area. Once the pressure is released, newly oxygenated blood flows back through the tissues forcing out toxins and allowing the muscle to relax. Trigger Point Therapy is generally used in conjunction with myofascial release and therapeutic massage treatments.

Hot & Cold Packs: Depending on the phase of healing, either hot or cold packs are used to relax the muscles and increase circulation or to decrease inflammation. Ice is used during the acute phase of healing, whereas moist heat or ice may be used during the second and third phases of healing for warm up and cool down.

Exercise and Rehabilitation Programs: We incorporate exercise and rehabilitation in the final phase of the healing process to achieve optimal strength, endurance, and overall balance through a series of exercises and stretching.
